Jakarta
3 weeks had passed since the girl who carries her 10kgs luggage stepped her feet on the airport. 10kgs of luggage was all that she has to start her new chapter of life in the city she terrified the most.
3 weeks later, it turns out that she ended up well. Drinking her first tea in the morning and eating crackers while listening 'Another rainy day' by Corinne Bailey Rae through her free Spotify.
She misses her hometown infinitely, her previous work, and people she left behind. She misses how Surabaya people curse and swear at every end of the sentence. She misses the joy to be woken up by sunrise. She misses plucking her guitar string in the balcony when the sun sets.
Jakarta is an amazing city. Everything is available. Everyone is gathered. But she never dreams of an uptown girl live. She prefers mountain breeze and lilac in December. Jakarta is a flicker, a city that hardly falls asleep. She feels like she does not belong to such pleasure.
Yet, I am not worried of her, since she is a survivor. She can tackle the city without losing her identity. A fucking good person at heart. She is.
